Marion McCready

Marble sky indented,
swithering branches.
A pyramid of roofs,
the windows of Mary street.
Rosemary rising
from a Belfast sink.
Leaded glass carving
diamonds on the window.
The green wings
of a stained glass thistle
spill to milk cartons,
cereal boxes, a dripping tap
and the anarchy of shoes
as they proliferate
across the red tiled floor.

Marion McCready lives in the west coast of Scotland. Her poetry pamphlet collection, Vintage Sea, was published by Calder Wood Press (2011). She is a recent recipient of a Scottish Book Trust New Writers Award.
